“Every single room is completely accessible, and every public space is completely accessible,” Genny Freiman, a project manager for the Disability Opportunity Fund, told Charleston Gazette-Mail. “So, we’re trying to change the thought behind disabilities, as well as showing hotels that this is a way to make a hotel.”

The historic building underwent a top-to-bottom renovation to include fully accessible rooms and dining areas, while paying homage to its schoolhouse past. Artifacts like the original bell are featured throughout the hotel and each of the 30 rooms is based on a school subject.
